Make A Custom Tote Bag: Leathercraft Workshop

Description

$305.00 4 Hours / Session Single Session All Levels, Beginner Friendly In-Person Class Materials: Included

Sunset Park in Brooklyn

This leather bag making class in NYC welcomes complete beginners, no leatherworking experience needed. You will spend the day at a workshop in Industry City, Brooklyn, cutting, riveting, and sewing your own custom tote bag from real leather. Your instructor guides you step by step, and you will get to work with real leathercraft tools like a rivet setter, anvil, and an industrial sewing machine.

You will start by choosing your leather, picking a color for the body of your bag and a separate color for the straps, then cut, burnish, and rivet the pieces together before sewing them on an industrial machine built for leather. Learning to run a machine like that can feel intimidating at first, but that is part of what makes this class worth it. With guidance, you are working with real leathercraft equipment that most people never get the chance to touch.

Once everything is stitched and riveted, you will have a fully finished leather tote bag, roughly 13 by 11 by 5 inches, sized to actually carry what you need day to day. You will leave the same day with a bag built entirely by your own hands, from raw leather to a piece you will use.
