Japanese Decorative Knot Making: Autumn Leaf Mizuhiki

Description

$60.00 2 Hours / Session In-Person Class Materials: Included

Bo Lee – Primary Location in Brooklyn

In this autumn-themed workshop, you’ll create an Autumn Leaf Knot using colorful mizuhiki paper cords, then choose whether to finish it as a bookmark, brooch, or pair of earrings. As you align, bend, and tie each cord, you’ll see how a simple material can become a delicate object to wear, carry, or keep close through the season.

Mizuhiki is a traditional Japanese craft made with fine strands of twisted washi paper. In Japan, it has long been used for gifts, weddings, seasonal celebrations, and other special occasions, where the act of tying can express care, connection, and good wishes.

This class is beginner-friendly and open to all skill levels. No experience is necessary, and all materials are included. You can choose colors inspired by autumn leaves or create your own combination in shades you love. You’ll leave with your own mizuhiki piece to take home.

The workshop is taught by Satoi Adams, a mizuhiki artist based in Tokyo and New York. Her work brings mizuhiki into fashion, interior decor, workshops, exhibitions, schools, and community programs, sharing the craft as both a traditional art form and a creative practice for modern life.
