In this hands-on Polaroid emulsion lift workshop, students will learn how to transfer instant film images onto paper, tile, glass, or other surfaces. This class is designed for anyone interested in exploring a more experimental and playful approach to photography, no prior experience is required.
The instructor will present examples of her work and facilitate a discussion on the creative possibilities of emulsion lifting. A step-by-step demonstration of the technique will be given, followed by individualized guidance as students create their own photo transfer pieces. Through the process, students will learn how to carefully lift, manipulate, and reshape an image beyond the moment it was captured. This class is for creative thinkers who wish to push boundaries.

Tickets are refundable if canceled at least 7 days before the event. If you cancel, a cancellation fee equal to the payment processing cost for the transaction, approximately 3% of the booking total, will be deducted from your refund.
If you’re unable to attend, you’re welcome to give your ticket to a friend. Please have them check in using your name.
In the rare case that the event does not meet minimum participation requirements, we’ll contact ticket holders at least 48 hours in advance with the option to reschedule or receive a refund, excluding the nonrefundable payment processing cost.

Callie Danae Hirsch is an American painter and educator based in Brooklyn, New York. In the classroom, she fosters an environment of active exploration, creativity, and strong encouragement, supporting students as they develop confidence in their own artistic voices. She earned a BFA in Photography from Parsons School of Design and an MA in Environmental Art from New York University. Drawing on a lifelong engagement with the natural world, Callie’s work serves as a space for introspection, connection, and discovery. Through her practice, she translates personal experience into a shared visual language rooted in curiosity and observation.
Callie brings a warm, relaxed teaching style that immediately puts participants at ease. She begins each class with tension-release exercises to help everyone settle in and connect creatively. Her sessions foster a supportive, playful atmosphere where participants learn together, encourage one another, and enjoy the process as much as the finished piece. By the end of the experience, each participant leaves with a handmade creation of their own — and an eagerness to keep exploring and learning.
