Bud Vase Flower Workshop

Description

$50.00 1 Hour / Session All Levels In-Person Class Materials: Included

Bushwick in Brooklyn

This bud vase flower workshop in NYC is a relaxed, monthly open studio where you build a small arrangement from five seasonal stems and take home a finished bud vase. No floral experience is necessary, and it only takes about twenty minutes to put together, the rest of the hour is yours to relax, chat, and enjoy the space.

There's a real joy in choosing just five stems and figuring out how they want to sit together, a smaller, quicker version of the same shape and texture instincts guests build in the full flower arranging class. Feel free to bring your own drinks and snacks, the shop wants you to feel at home while you work.

ALL SALES FINAL AND NON TRANSFERABLE.

What to Expect

  • Choosing five seasonal stems for a small arrangement
  • Basic composition and color choices in a compact format
  • Building a finished bud vase in about twenty minutes

How It Works

  • This one hour open studio session is built around ease: you spend about twenty minutes choosing and arranging five seasonal stems into a bud vase, with a florist instructor guiding your color and stem choices as you go, then the rest of the hour is yours to relax in the shop with your own drinks and snacks. It's a smaller, quicker version of the full flower arranging class, built for a monthly drop in rather than a full two hour session.

Space and Atmosphere

  • The studio is adjacent to our flower shop in Bushwick! This working-studio attached to our customer facing retail space offers an authentic florist experience, filled with natural light, community and flowers! Our workshop attendees love the atmosphere and buzz of being in the heart of Bushwick.

Your Instructor

This Bushwick flower shop and workshop space has been teaching floral design since 2013, when Suzanna Cameron opened it as a women owned business built around eco friendly floristry and locally sourced, seasonal flowers. That same “field to vase” sourcing philosophy, seasonal, mostly local blooms, never dyed, never grown with flower foam, still shapes every order and every class today, and Suzanna remains hands on in daily operations as lead designer. Classes are taught by the shop’s design team, the same florists who handle the shop’s daily flower orders and event work, bringing that same sustainable, seasonal approach into every workshop.

What we love about this studio

Started From a Personal Love of Giving Flowers

We built this workshop so people learn by doing, following along with our designers step-by-step rather than watching a demonstration first. We encourage people to touch each bloom individually to really notice the characteristics of each stem and how to best honor them in a mixed arrangement. We cover the fundamentals of design principles, color theory, and floral care all while providing hands-on feedback and guidance as you build your own arrangement to take home.

Welcoming to Beginners and Seasoned Creatives Alike

This class draws total beginners and seasoned creatives looking for a new hobby into the same room, working side by side. The design team describes their own workspace as supportive, collaborative, and inspired, and that's the atmosphere you step into for two hours, your instructor moving between guests as everyone builds their own arrangement. There's a real joy in watching a mix of stems come together into something you made yourself, whether it's your first time or your fiftieth.

A Real Working Flower Shop, Not a Rented Classroom

The class is held inside a real, working flower shop in Bushwick, an airy, plant filled space with large windows and a garden style aesthetic, filled with the same seasonal stems the shop sells and arranges every day. The shop also runs "Solidarity Sunday," a near monthly bouquet sale that donates proceeds to local nonprofits working on racial justice, food security, and the environment.
