Bud Vase Flower Workshop
This bud vase flower workshop in NYC is a relaxed, monthly open studio where you build a small arrangement from five seasonal stems and...
This Bushwick flower shop and workshop space has been teaching floral design since 2013, when Suzanna Cameron opened it as a women owned business built around eco friendly floristry and locally sourced, seasonal flowers. That same “field to vase” sourcing philosophy, seasonal, mostly local blooms, never dyed, never grown with flower foam, still shapes every order and every class today, and Suzanna remains hands on in daily operations as lead designer. Classes are taught by the shop’s design team, the same florists who handle the shop’s daily flower orders and event work, bringing that same sustainable, seasonal approach into every workshop.

We built this workshop so people learn by doing, following along with our designers step-by-step rather than watching a demonstration first. We encourage people to touch each bloom individually to really notice the characteristics of each stem and how to best honor them in a mixed arrangement. We cover the fundamentals of design principles, color theory, and floral care all while providing hands-on feedback and guidance as you build your own arrangement to take home.
This class draws total beginners and seasoned creatives looking for a new hobby into the same room, working side by side. The design team describes their own workspace as supportive, collaborative, and inspired, and that's the atmosphere you step into for two hours, your instructor moving between guests as everyone builds their own arrangement. There's a real joy in watching a mix of stems come together into something you made yourself, whether it's your first time or your fiftieth.
The class is held inside a real, working flower shop in Bushwick, an airy, plant filled space with large windows and a garden style aesthetic, filled with the same seasonal stems the shop sells and arranges every day. The shop also runs "Solidarity Sunday," a near monthly bouquet sale that donates proceeds to local nonprofits working on racial justice, food security, and the environment.
