Step into a working textile atelier in the heart of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and spend three hours creating something completely your own. No experience or artistic background is required, just curiosity and a willingness to play with color and texture.
In this hands-on textile workshop, you will discover Paint with Wool, a signature technique created by textile artist Astrid. Inspired by the freedom of painting, the technique uses a multi-needle tool to work wool directly into linen with short, rhythmic strokes. Color, pattern, and texture are gradually built layer by layer, much like filling a canvas with paint, but entirely with wool.
You will begin by choosing a motif and selecting wool colors from a curated collection. Guided by Astrid, you will learn how to use the multi-needle tool and work the wool into the fabric as your design takes shape. What begins as a blank linen surface gradually becomes a one-of-a-kind pillow cover decorated and designed entirely by you.
By the end of the workshop, your pillow will be finished with its insert inside and ready to take home.
All materials are included, including linen fabric, wool, a multi-needle tool, and a pillow insert. Complimentary wine for guests ages 21 and older and seasonal bites will be served throughout the class.
Come on your own or share the experience with a friend, partner, or family member. You will leave this beginner-friendly Greenpoint textile workshop with a custom pillow and an introduction to a playful, expressive way of working with wool.
