Create Your Own Textile Art with Wool

Description

$80.00 2 Hours / Session Single Session Beginner In-Person Class Materials: Included

Greenpoint in Brooklyn

Step into a working textile atelier in the heart of Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and spend a few hours creating something entirely your own. No experience or artistic background is required, just curiosity and a willingness to play with color and texture.

You’ll discover Paint with Wool, a signature technique created by textile artist Astrid. Inspired by the freedom of painting, the process uses a multi-needle tool to work wool directly into linen with short, rhythmic strokes. Color, pattern, and texture gradually build layer by layer, much like filling a canvas with paint, but using wool instead.

You’ll begin by choosing a motif and selecting wool colors from a curated collection. Guided by Astrid, you’ll learn how to use the multi-needle tool and work the wool into the fabric as your composition takes shape. The process is rhythmic and meditative, giving you time to relax, experiment, and follow your own creative direction.

What begins as a blank linen canvas will become a one-of-a-kind textile artwork designed and made by you, ready to frame or display at home.

All materials are included, including linen fabric, wool, and a multi-needle tool. Light refreshments will also be served throughout the session.

This Paint with Wool workshop is a welcoming introduction to textile art with wool for anyone looking to explore a new creative hobby in NYC. You’ll leave with an original piece of art and a new way of working with color, pattern, texture, and wool.

Le Studio Anthost

What we love about this studio

Designer-Led Textile Craft

Astrid brings together experience in fashion, interiors, and handcrafted surface design. Raised in Paris, she developed the foundation of her textile practice at Atelier Dynale before building a working atelier in Brooklyn. In class, she guides learners with close attention to material, texture, color, and hand process, helping beginners understand how each choice shapes the finished piece.

Relaxed, Tactile Class Experience

These workshops center on touch, texture, and the pleasure of making by hand. Astrid introduces the punch needle process step by step, then gives learners room to select their wool colors, build their patterns, and let their pillows take shape at a comfortable pace. The atmosphere is relaxed and social, with time to settle into the rhythm of the technique while creating something of your own.

Inside a Working Greenpoint Atelier

Classes take place in a working textile atelier where custom pieces are developed for interior projects. Large windows, wooden worktables, colorful displays of wool, soft music, and surrounding textiles create a calm and sensory environment. Rather than learning in a conventional classroom, students spend time in the same setting where textile ideas are explored, tested, and made.
