Korean Folk Art is led by Stephanie S. Lee, a Queens-based visual artist, educator, and founder dedicated to sharing Minhwa, the tradition of Korean folk painting, with contemporary audiences. Her work celebrates the vibrant colors, playful imagery, and symbolic meaning of Korean folk art, from tigers, magpies, and peonies to rabbits, books, scholar’s objects, and other traditional motifs.
Through beginner-friendly workshops, Korean Folk Art introduces students to step-by-step painting techniques while sharing the cultural stories behind each image. The classes are warm, calm, and supportive, making Minhwa accessible for adults, families, seniors, and learners of all experience levels.
