Spend a full day in Tivoli with friends, family, or your team, stepping away from your usual routine and opening up new ways of making, thinking, and connecting.
Greasing the Wheel is a private creative retreat led by artist and educator Lilah Friedland. Through a thoughtfully paced mix of hands-on and meditative practices, the day is designed to exercise your creative muscles and open up new ways of making, thinking, and connecting. You’ll move between making and movement, stillness and conversation, individual exploration and shared experiences, with plenty of room to experiment, play, think, and unthink.
Rather than mastering one technique or producing a perfect finished piece, the retreat encourages curiosity and new pathways to self-expression while creating connections between mind, body, and creative practice.
Tivoli is part of the experience too. The day includes a walk into the village, lunch together at a local restaurant, and a celebratory dinner after the creative program concludes, making it an easy centerpiece for a day trip or weekend away in the Hudson Valley.
No previous art experience is needed. The retreat is privately booked for groups of 4 or more. Art materials for the guided activities are included. Lunch, dinner, drinks, transportation, lodging, and personal purchases are not included.
After booking, we’ll send you practical details and recommendations for your visit, including driving directions and public transportation options.
If you prefer to have the retreat at your own space or another venue, we can adapt the program to fit the setting and your group’s goals.
